Moving Tips

In order for your removal to run smoothly, we have put together the following reminders to help ease all the removal anxiety and to make sure that both parties are in the know:

  • Please make sure with your governing body at your off-loading address, that big trucks are allowed to offload after 5 o’clock at night if need be.

  • Please make sure that you will get your new house keys before the truck will arrive at the offloading address.

  • Please note that furniture and boxes are loaded and packed into the removal van on top of each other. This ensures less damage as well as space saving. It also gets fastened with removal ropes to ensure that nothing falls whilst travelling.

  • Please make sure that insurance is in order. Transit Insurance is quoted for free and only covers if the truck is in transit and one of the following might happen: Fire, collision, overturning and theft AFTERWARDS. If you need insurance for breakages and theft, please note that additional insurance must be taken.

  • Vehicles are only allowed to travel between 80 and 90 kilometers per hour. This means that the removal truck will not arrive at the same time that you might arrive at your new address. To be safe, double your driving time for the removal truck.

  • Removal trucks must occasionally fill up with Fuel, which takes roughly about an hour, which can also delay arrival time.

  • Please bear in mind, that pot plants are being transported as a favor to our clients, even if it was mentioned on the furniture list. If there is not space available, we will not be able to load the pot plants .Please do not water your plants the day before, as it might result in staining other items.

  • All Removals van’s have GPS on board, however some of the new street names or newer addresses are not always available on GPS; therefore your patience regarding delays will be appreciated in this regard.

  • All Removal vans’ have 5 people working on the truck, excluding the driver (whom is only allowed to drive). With off loading, 1 (normally the supervisor) will loosen and offload furniture and pass it to the next person. That person will normally carry the furniture half-way (especially if they have to carry the furniture more than 30 meters), then two to three guys will carry your furniture into your new home and after all furniture is offloaded, they will assist with moving the furniture where you want it.

  • Normally items will be packed into boxes (if quoted for) according to specific rooms and be written on the box for easy reference, however sometimes stuff maybe packed with others in order for the box to be optimized and strong enough for packing in the truck itself. Please make sure that all boxes are unpacked, before enquiring for any "missing" items.

  • Please note that times quoted on our e-mails may differ as a result of unforeseen circumstances not under our control i.e.: Holdups on the road, traffic, accidents, weather, previous move’s owners that might not have gotten their keys in time, tyres that have might burst, etc.

  • Please ensure that you have packed and stowed away any items that you might use the following day or evening before the removal truck arrives. Pack a bag with all the items you will need to see you through your first evening in your new home. Ensure that you’ve packed pajamas, toiletries and goodies to entertain your children during the move.

  • Please make sure that all curtains are removed for packing and also all electronic equipment, i.e. TV’s, DVD-Players, etc are plugged out the morning of the move

  • Please defrost your fridge the day before your removal. The water running out of the fridge inside the truck might cause damage to other items. Box freezers do not have to be defrosted; it will be loaded frozen onto the truck.

Although this might seem like a whole lot to take in, know that we are here to make your removal a smooth one. If you can assist with all the above, your removal will run smoothly and no misunderstandings will occur.

Yours Sincerely

All Around Removals Team
